[attr="class","gym_body"]The Rustboro City Gym has been the Poison-Type Gym of the Hoenn League for a few generations now, the facility being passed down from Trainer to Trainer after being tested on their abilities to utilize the hazardous type to their advantages. The current leader, Azalea Bloodroot, has owned the gym for around five years, and is currently looking for a successor. For this reason, her challenge has gotten noticeably easier over the years, the leader often rigging it in favor of the challenger to get it over with quicker. [break][break]

The Rustboro City Gym is not only a place for League Matches, but also a center for disposing waste and purifying air in the biggest industrial area of the Hoenn Region. Toxic fumes are pumped from underneath the Devon Corporation and other factories located in the city into the gym, which are then filtered into clean air and pumped out of the five smoke-stacks located on the roof. This effort has greatly increased the air quality of not just Rustboro, but the entire region of Hoenn as well.

• ☠ Warning: Rustboro City Gym contains toxic gases and hallucinogenic fumes. All challengers will be issued a special bodysuit and a protective respirator in the lobby before entering the main portion of the gym for their safety. • All Gym Battles at the Rustboro City Gym are 3v1, where the challenger brings three Pokémon and the leader brings one. [break][break]

• The challenger's Pokémon will be badly poisoned at the beginning of the match, even if they are Steel-Type or Poison-Type. The toxic air of the gym will additionally poison any Pokémon that is cured during their next action. The leader's Pokémon have been carefully trained to become immune to these toxins.
