[attr="class","scylla"]6:13am. The sun was just beginning to rise. The tides were still high. It was quiet. Most Trainers were still asleep. The only sound that could be heard in the vicinity was the hum of a motorized engine churning the water, propelling a small fishing boat through the waves. The vessel was only large enough for a crew of five, which meant the three aboard were rather cramped, especially with all of the jury-rigged sonar and fishing technology scattered throughout the deck and main cabin. One of the three was the big bad boss of Team Aqua herself, standing dangerously close to the edge of the deck, looking onward with a pair of rusted binoculars. " The S.S. Cactus...beautiful she was, in her prime anyways." The pale woman lowered her cheap scouting device, revealing her piercing yellowish-green eyes. The right one had a bit of a twitch, something she couldn't really control. These features combined with her ghostly whitish blue hair made her look a lot like a waterlogged corpse, sans the typical bloating that tended to happen to those. " I would love...LOVE...to blow her right outta the water. Put her in a proper grave." Scylla smiled, chuckling to herself, her grin as wide as a man with a Cheshire Smile. She was recalling the recent events last Christmas, the time where she and her crew really made a name for themselves. The famed S.S. Annabel was sunk like an over-sized rock, nearly all the passengers and riches drowning with it. It was about making a statement - showing the world that they and all they owned would be nothing but offerings to the seas. " But today we actually, well, we need some things." She spoke to her crew, but didn't look at them. They would know questioning anything she said or did would likely send them overboard. " For SOME REASON, Slateport revoked my boating license. And my fishing license. And my funding. It's pretty terrible, actually, can you believe they'd do that?" It might seem a bit crazy to her crew, because as far as everybody in Hoenn knew, she was never a sea captain in the region. It was more than likely that she was just telling another tall tale. Scylla's attention was immediately taken away from her story, however, as the boat rocked violently side to side, almost causing her to fall off. The Aqua Leader would turn slowly to her small crew, now finally looking them over with her luminescent eyes. One was a male, in his early twenties, eager to serve. He saluted as soon as she looked at him. What a perfect Grunt. In an instance, without any warning, the corpse-like woman took out a small pistol, and shot the grunt directly between the eyes. His body immediately fell limp, falling off the boat and into the waters. " Boat was a little too heavy. Anyways, where was I? You know, right?" Scylla carelessly waved the gun around, sometimes pointing it at her own head, and other times pointing it at the remaining Grunt. She was with the boss of Team Aqua she was with the boss of Team Aqua she was with the boss of Team Aqua!
Ara tried to calm her expression but the grin that widened across her face stretching ear to ear was hard to hide, her role model was right there, and she had asked her to come along with her! Well, ordered, but Ara would take it!
If Ara squinted, she could still a dot rapidly turning bigger into what seemed like a silhouette of a boat. Her heart leapt into nervous flips the closer they got to their destination, she couldn't believe that she had been inducted into Team Aqua so quickly, and called into the mission immediately! It clearly showed how much they trusted her and her abilities, obviously of course, Ara didn't doubt for one second that her leader was great at reading people and gauging their potential.
Her leader started to talk to herself, which then started to slip into talking to her crew without looking at them. Ara didn't miss a beat, she nodded vigorously, though she knew that Scylla wasn't looking at her, and gave small agreements of "Mhmm!".
That was when her leader turned towards Ara and the other grunt, and Ara positively lit up at Scylla's searching stare. Scylla's eyes were yellowish-green and her stare felt as cold as the sea, but her stare made her feel as if she was back home in Pacifidlog, wrapped in the ocean's waves, and it made Ara shiver in ecstacy.
With speed that Ara had never seen before, Scylla pulled a gun and shot the grunt next to her with deadly accuracy, immediately the body fell out of the boat and into the water. Ara, being only human, jumped with shock. At first, her mind couldn't process what happened, and for a second she ignored her leader. Had she just killed her own grunt? The boat was too heavy? What?
Then the puzzles in her head started to piece together, and without knowing it, a small wolfish grin appeared on her lips. Scylla could've killed her instead but didn't. Why? Because she knew Ara's potential, she knew Ara was worth more than one grunt, perhaps even more than ten grunts. At least, Ara believed so. Or why else would she take her along and not shoot her too? Ara could feel, at the bottom of her gut, that she was safe. She had absolute confidence in her leader, another who loved the ocean as much as she did, that Scylla would not pull the trigger on her, even if the pistol aimed her way at times.
With the slow numbing of the shock, Ara huffed and crossed her legs and her arms, now that there was more space for her on the boat to sit, "Ugh, Slateport is such a dumb city anyways, it is soooooo behind the times!" Ara rolled her eyes at even the thought of Slateport's idiotic decision, how dare they not know that Team Aqua was going to dominate the world and let her glorious leader keep her licenses! She glanced at the S.S. Cactus that slowly came into view, "When we get that ship we'll be so popular, Slateport will come begging for us to come back!"

[attr="class","scylla"]" Ah yes, my licenses. Good ear, you have." Good thing this grunt happened to pay attention when the boss was talking, and lucky for her that she needed at least one other body to pull this whole mission off. Scylla re-holstered her pistol, clicking the safety back on in the process. Another thing clicked inside of the pale woman's brain, noticing that Arabella said something about taking the S.S. Cactus. Yes...that was quite the idea. Aqua lacked a heavy-duty ship like that in their arsenal, and it was practically a crime that they did. " Now that's a killer idea. I was just, y'know, gonna loot it and blow it up." Their small fishing boat was growing closer and closer to the wreckage, Scylla occasionally having to put her hands on the controls to steer it away from floating debris and the rocks that ultimately caused the demise of the cruise-liner. It was a rough ride, and anybody without a good pair of sea-legs would likely fall overboard. " First we loot it, then I'll send out a crew to begin fixin' her up. We'll need a mobile base, anyways, if we're gonna get the Big One." The Legendary Monster of the Oceans - it would be under her command. Now as for the Cactus...this thing was almost beyond repair. Getting it back and sailing would require weeks, perhaps even months, but it was no task too crazy for the leader of Team Aqua. All it would take was some manpower, and some knowledge of watercraft, and her gang had plenty of both of those. They were just about ready to board the half-sunken vessel, Scylla pulled the boat up to a rather large hole in the hull, then dropping the anchor herself to make sure their little escape craft didn't float off while they were inside. " It's probably infested with wilds now, we ain't gonna be able to walk in there unprepared." The grungy lady reached to her waist, this time grabbing a Dive Ball over a firearm. Upon applying pressure to the release system, a red light emitted from the device, before forming into a rather large mass of spines and tentacles. " Tenta-CRUEL!" The monster proudly proclaimed, announcing his presence to his master and her subordinate. The Pokemon crawled into the hole, turning back around to await for the humans to follow suit. " Well, c'mon then, let's go." With a few hand signals from his trainer, the jellyfish-creature bashed its tendrils against a support beam, breaking it down and laying it from the cruise-liner to the fishing boat, creating a makeshift plank to board with. Scylla jumped on it with confidence, quickly crossing over it to the main vessel, hoping her protege would follow just as fast. She would need help carrying out all the loot, after all. [attr=class, palmreader] [attr=class,reader1] [attr=class,reader2] [attr=class,palmsays2] [attr=class,reader3] [attr=class,palmsays3] [attr=class, topreading]Ara couldn't stop the grin widening from her face when she realised that she had suggested a good idea to the Ocean Overlord. She sighed dreamily when Scylla mentioned The Big One. Kyogre. The stuff of legends, even people in Pacifidlog knew about it, albeit only threadbare knowledge about it. Though Team Aqua had their share of firepower, only Kyogre would be powerful enough to flood the Earth, and just thinking about it filled her with the electric bubbly stuff in her stomach that she presumed was happiness.
They finally came across their destination and watched as Scylla stopped the small boat and released the anchor. Ara nodded when her boss mentioned that there would be wildies in the ship, unsurprisingly, and watched in awe as she unleashed a Tentacruel. No one in her backwater town had a pokemon that strong, but of course, fitting for the Team Aqua leader. Ara reached for a pokeball herself, usually she relied on Nathaniel the Mudkip, but this was her first ever Team Aqua mission! It was only fitting to use the pokemon gifted to her upon initiation. She lifted the red-and-white pokeball and threw it with all her might, "Go, Chadwick!"
On command, the ball unleashed a big red lobster upon the entrance of the ship before the ball returned to Ara's grasp. "Cor!" Chadwick the Corphish announced, before scuttling in after the huge toxic jellyfish. Ara waited until the boss lady gave the signal and then, deciding speed was better for the makeshift plank rather than slowly crawling on it, she ran across it and joined her boss. The plank groaned in protest and fell into the water just after Ara stepped on the ship, she cringed, oops, and she hoped Scylla didn't notice. [attr="class","scylla"] SPLASH.The sound echoed throughout the empty ship - the plank that was set out as a small bridge now sunk to the bottom of the ocean. It was no big deal, really, Scylla was more surprised that her cadet had made it across without falling along with it. They would have to find another way out now, which shouldn't be too big of a deal with all of the Water-Types they had at their disposal. The Cactus was unfortunately as abandoned as they said it was. It seemed that other pirates and thieves have mostly stripped the ship; there were open and frayed wires where heavy equipment once sat, broken glass and storage boxes where others had quickly been looting, and the thick smell of mold and decay. A small group of Corsola huddled in a corner, only to scatter when the Aqua Boss shined a flashlight over in their direction. The room they were in seemed to be some sort of mess hall, though as stated, most to all of the kitchen equipment was already taken by those who came before Team Aqua. The only things left was scattered silverware and a few overturned tables. " Not the dinner party I would've wanted to attend." Scylla spoke softly as she shined her flashlight around the area, noticing that there were traces of passengers hastily evacuating during meal time. Scratches on the walls, blood, broken plates - but where were the bodies? Maybe they had decomposed already, or maybe most of the crew and guests successfully left the vessel before its demise. " Haha...ha...he...let's...let's keep going." Scylla covered her mouth, attempting to stop her impulsive laughter that tended to come on from time to time. The thin woman headed towards a narrow hallway, that according to her knowledge of ships, would eventually lead to the main control room. Her Tentacruel slowly followed her, having a bit more of a tough time navigating the small quarters than his Trainer did, having to slip and contort his body down the hall in an unnatural manner that only a Pokemon could achieve. Both Scylla and her partner stopped dead in their tracks when a thick shadow passed through the hall and down into another, leaving a strong feeling of dread in its place. It was the type of feeling to send chills down your spine, to leave one shaking and terrified. The Aqua Leader, however, smiled at this turn of events. " Keep going - oh, and, try to avoid Normal-Type moves for now on." [attr=class, palmreader] [attr=class,reader1] [attr=class,reader2] [attr=class,palmsays2] [attr=class,reader3] [attr=class,palmsays3] [attr=class, topreading]Ara wasn't sure what it was that disturbed her most, all of the troubling signs of a ship invasion, or the lack of bodies to show for it.
Still, the years had eroded all scent of it, she could only smell the musty air within the ship. She realised that none of it held the decay she thought it would, and she became more intrigued by the ship than revolted. She quietly followed her boss and the shine of her flashlight, Chadwick loyal by her side and at attention to any of her commands, and tried to sidestep and give way as much as possible to the tangled mass of jellyfish that tried its absolute best to follow them.
Ara shivered when they came upon more signs of fights, and it all seemed unnatural. If it had only been a simple shipwreck, the panic of it all would have been evident, yes, but there was so much... Blood. She didn't know what sort of shipwreck would cause that, unless it wasn't a shipwreck at all.
It was only when they turned around a corner into a narrow hallway that Ara greatly felt the shivers crawling up her spine, she knew almost with absolute certainty that they were being watched. She could feel it, she could even see it, perhaps in her mind's eye. When her boss instructed her not to use any Normal-Type moves, Ara wholeheartedly agreed, "Yes boss." she replied succinctly.
But that calm evaporated just as quickly when she felt that dread right behind her, almost close enough to kiss the back of her neck. Immediately she whipped right around and pointed, "Bubble!" she commanded, and the giant lobster let loose a torrent of pressurised bubbles at the exact spot that Ara instructed. Ara wasn't sure if this was just all in her head or if she actually did hit something, she really didn't know. Whatever it was, she hoped she just didn't dig her grave.
