Dr. Mallory Sunniva

[attr="class","app_bio"]Mallory was like many other young Trainers that started their adventures in Hoenn. She was born and raised in Littleroot Town, and on her tenth birthday, she traveled to the local laboratory to receive her very first Pokemon. From there on, she took on the Gym Challenge, collecting all of the Minor League badges and advancing on to collect six of the Major League badges. And she very likely would've collected more, too.[break][break]

Unfortunately, the young Sunniva wasn't the most honorable or fair Trainer enlisted in the Gym Challenge. When she reached her seventh Gym in Lilycove, she knew she was at a disadvantage, the Water-Types used there directly countering her primarily Ground-Type team. Rather than playing fair or adjusting her team, she manipulated a swarm of Magnemite by altering the magnetic fields around the gym in the middle of the night; accomplishing this through the use of borrowed technology from the Devon company. It worked, too, the Steel-Electric types causing a lot of trouble over the course of the night, ultimately weakening the Gym Leader's team before the match started. Mallory nearly won the match, but unfortunately for her, it was stopped early by League Officials, showing a feed from the security cameras that showed everybody what she had done. Labeled as a cheater, she was disqualified from her League Challenge and not allowed to make another attempt for five years.[break][break]

Outraged by her disqualification as she believed she was fully in the right to utilize such strategies to win, after all, it was just a show of her intelligence - thinking outside the box if one would. Just because she didn't win with brute strength, the League had disgraced and punished her! From this point on, Mallory began thinking bigger than the League, putting plans into motion that would truly have long term benefits. She began devoting all of her time to Pokemon Science, attending Rustboro University for several years and earning a doctorate degree in both Environmental Science and Pokemon Science. In no time at all, Sunniva used her knowledge to climb the ranks of the Devon Corporation and became one of their top scientists.[break][break]

Soon enough, Mallory was back to her old ways, embezzling a large amount of the company's money and manipulating funding to develop projects in secret. She worked hard on a device used to capture Pokemon, a modified Pokeball that would rob any Pokemon caught by it of their free will, putting them under total command of their Trainer. After perfecting it, she presented it to the rest of the company, which turned her down and shut down her funding for what they considered to be an "inhumane" use of Devon technology. This led to an outburst, which then led to her swift termination.[break][break]

Now more angry than ever, and convinced that the entire world has it wrong and doesn't actively want to better their society, Mallory went off with what she had left of her equipment and went into isolation, vanishing for nearly three years. This society cared far too much about Pokemon, so much so that they would even put their well-being above the future of humanity. The human race would actively kill themselves just to save a few animals - they knew not the potential these creatures had for civilization! They were tools, meant to serve humans, meant to better our lives.[break][break]

After researching the two Super Ancient Pokemon that were said to have formed the planet with their overwhelming power, and after spending much time alone honing her skills, Mallory reemerged to the public, claiming to have the secret to the next great step in humanity's evolution. After making a few public speeches, all of which were within the realm of the law, she quickly gathered a large following, a group that believed what she said and believed in her cause. They took on a uniform, and began acting as a gang across Hoenn, bullying those who didn't agree with them.[break][break]

They called themselves Team Magma, and finally, people were beginning to understand Mallory's point.
