[attr="class","hoenn_pillar_rules"]POKÉMON CENTER
[attr="class","hoenn_body"]All across the world, in every major town and city, one can find a Pokémon Center. These specialized facilities act as a point of rest for Trainers and civilians alike, offering a variety of conveniences such as room and board, but their biggest point of appeal lies in the healing services they provide to all Pokémon, free of charge thanks to funding from the Pokémon League.[break][break]
Be sure to rest up every so often: the journey ahead is a long one, and you'll need every last ounce of strength to overcome the next big challenge![break][break]
[break]
Visiting the Pokémon Center is the only way to successfully increase the Level of your Pokémon, which can be accomplished by either spending money or feeding them a piece of Rare Candy. Any changes in Level will be applied upon the creation of your next thread with that character; any that are currently in progress must be finished as-is and will not reflect these alterations.[break][break]
You can invest money into your Pokémon by increments of 100 per Level you wish to buy. Choosing to give them a Rare Candy, on the other hand, will increase their Level by five and is an objectively quicker way to strengthen a Pokémon.[break][break]
Bear in mind that you are only allowed to purchase up to 30 Levels per week, the only exception to this rule being the use of Rare Candies – just as their name implies, however, these are difficult to come across, so use them sparingly![break][break]
[break]
Similarly, characters must issue a post within the Pokémon Center if they desire to educate their companions on the use of a new move. Normally, Pokémon will automatically learn them as they increase in Levels, but several other options are present in the form of Technical Machines (TMs), Hidden Machines (HMs), or through the exchange of special Heart Scales.[break][break]
When using a TM to instill a move into a Pokémon's repertoire, the devices are programmed with enough power to perform this action only once, then discarded when their purpose has been fulfilled. If a character owns a special deluxe TM Case, they are allowed to replenish a TM's energy at the Pokémon Center once per week to be used again ad infinitum, making these handy portable containers an absolute necessity for any Trainer.[break][break]
HMs are more complex iterations of this technology, ergo can be used as many times as the character wants, so long as the Pokémon is compatible with the move encoded within. As their nomenclature suggests, these devices cannot be obtained under normal circumstances and are highly sought after by collectors for their rarity. In addition, because the moves contained within them are much harder to learn, they are equally just as hard to forget – but for a small fee of 500, the Pokémon Center will delete the move and free up a slot for another one to replace it.[break][break]
If you decide to trade in a Heart Scale, you are allowed to pick and choose a single move that the target Pokémon would have learned if it had been hatched from an Egg, otherwise known more commonly as an Egg Move. Each Heart Scale permits the selection of a single Egg Move from that Pokémon's list of available moves and is the only method outside of Breeding that will allow these types of moves to be learned.[break][break]
No matter how you choose to go about teaching your Pokémon new techniques, they are only permitted to retain memory of up to four moves at any given point – any new moves acquired, whether through an increase of Levels or the methods listed above, must replace an older one.
Be sure to rest up every so often: the journey ahead is a long one, and you'll need every last ounce of strength to overcome the next big challenge![break][break]
