[attr="class","app_bio"]Azalea Bloodroot is the third Bloodroot in the family to take over the Rustboro City Gym, the two before her being her older brother and father. The entire family has always had an affinity with the Poison-Type, seeing their value in the world and their ability to purify and survive in toxic conditions that would be fatal to humans and other types of Pokémon. Unlike her professional family, however, Azalea was always a bit of a black sheep, a lazy, rude individual that never bothered to even attempt to fit into a crowd.[break][break]

She is often, unnecessarily so often, callous and stand-offish to challengers and even her fellow Gym Leaders. For these reasons, she is not the most popular Gym Leader, having a very small fanbase compared to the others. People rarely come to watch her matches, fearing the hazardous conditions she contains within her Gym. In truth, she never wanted to take over the responsibility of running the Rustboro Gym and tries to get her matches over with as quickly as possible. This has led her to rigging many battles in the favor of her opponents, which has further decreased her general ratings as a Gym Leader.[break][break]

Recently, however, Azalea has found a spark within her once more, finally finding herself getting excited during Gym Challenges. This all came about after one of her recent defeats by a young Trainer, one that went on to defeat many more Gym Leaders and reached the championship. What became of this Trainer after that is unknown, as the Champion has still not come out with their identity as of yet. If that Trainer won or lost, it didn't matter - they showed the Poison-Type Leader a battle that they would never forget, one that truly reignited the sleeping spirit she had within her the whole time.[break][break]

Nowadays, Azalea tries her best to make Rustboro City one of the region's greatest gyms as it once was under her father and brother's ownership.
