tag open! notes | No matter what people say, Oldale Town is a paradise!
A cool breeze rolls through the small hamlet, greeting its residents with the gentle caress of spring. The sounds of bird Pokémon adds to the harmony of the swaying tree tops and fluttering blades of grass. Big fluffy clouds drift by at a lazy speed along an endless sheet of blue as even more proof of its wonderful and tranquil atmosphere. It was as if it lay suspended in time, untouched by the outside world even as it continued to develop and expand well beyond all limit.
But for Trainers such as Felicity Quirk, this was home. Oldale Town has been a staple fixture in her life from the moment she was born. Not even the decision to embark on her Pokémon journey keeps her away from this little village for very long, since it gives Felicity a reason to dedicate time on her agenda to make a prolonged visit every now and then.
Having just departed from the Quirke residence proper, Felicity had intended to make a pit stop at the local Poké Mart to replenish her supply of medicines and capture tools, but her plans were momentarily interrupted when her Togepi, Eggsy, took it upon himself to sneak away when her Trainer wasn't looking.
"Eggsy! Where the heck are you?!" Felicity called out loud, using both hands to amplify the sound of her voice. "Eggsy?!" The youngster lets out a defeated sigh. "This is, like, the fourth time you've disappeared this week... I really ought to put a leash on you or something!" But where would she put it? His body is so round, a collar would just slip off. Oh, maybe she could put a bell on him! Then Eggsy would have a much harder time sneaking away!
Now it was just a matter of finding him, first...

Well, if there was one thing Roxy had to give credit to Hoenn... it was certainly a hell lot more green. It was actually refreshing just to see things like forests or lakes... and the towns! Phenac City she heard was pretty alright, but Pyrite Town was basically made from actual trash... Oldale was refreshingly simplistic in a manner that appealed to the Orre-native's eyes.
Still, if there was ONE thing that grated on the girl's nerves... it was all this dang paperwork and League guidelines she had to review through. Being a foreigner meant she had to get a ton of customs stuff handled if she even wanted to think of taking on the League challenge and be an official Pokemon Trainer. Orre had none of that stuff... if you had a Pokemon, you were a trainer. Easy and simple, right? Well, at least it seemed that way to her.
The headphone-wearing older teen was sitting by a wide-acre picket fence enclosing an area of the rural town, busy engrossed in a "Official Pokemon League Trainer's Manual" as she scrutinized its pages with the intenseness of a Spearow. She was honestly surprised at how specific the rulings were to this sorta stuff... or even just how single battles were the preferred method of battles in all regions. She liked to believe she was "competent" as a trainer, but she was the first to admit she was nowhere near the best... but hey, you gotta start somewhere.
Not far from the girl was her Smeargle... who was needless to say making a bit of a mess. The painter Pokemon was busy scribbling out on the trunk of the tree offering his trainer shade an assortment of doodles... specifically crude paintings of himself and his "family". Smurf made sure to emphasize Dastard with some angry eyebrows, though he did mess up slightly on her colors (having opted for a more sky-blue than an indigo). To be fair, he thought she'd look better as a nice shade of light blue... but he would have been hesitant of mentioning that to the Sneasel primarily out of fear of being beat up.
Sometimes you just had to take creative liberties.

tag notes | "Eggsy! Pleeeeaaase, don't make this any harder!" Felicity's voice carried itself on the refreshing winds, but the lack of any response from her infant Togepi was a point of growing exasperation for the Trainer youngster. He could get into serious trouble one of these days, and she would have no way to stop it!
Unbeknownst to the frantic Felicity, Eggsy had been paying close attention to his Trainer from behind a maple tree situated a couple dozen meters away. The spiky Pokémon giggled exuberantly from behind the cracks on his shell, confident in his abilities as the undisputed master of hide-and-seek, then started skipping merrily toward nowhere in particular.
This was Eggsy's usual routine: he dearly loved Felicity, but sometimes you just had to get out and explore a few places! The Togepi's sense of adventure rivaled that of his own Trainer's, perhaps even exceeded it – and when he wanted to go investigate something that looked neat, then by George, he was going to do it!
As always, Eggsy would get the chance to fulfill his modus operandi when he, quite literally, stumbled upon another human and her Smeargle companion. The former seemed absorbed in something important, and the painter Pokémon also looked like it was deep in its own concentration as an inked tail slathered fluid over the tree bark in crude caricatures.
Without any fear at all, the Togepi waddles forward to greet the duo using nothing less than its own signature charm. "Piiiiii!" Eggsy cries out, flapping his stubby little arms up and down as if attempting to fly. Truth be told, he was just happy to meet new people, and his body language always showed this.
Then again, when wasn't Eggsy happy in general?

tag notes | It was quiet here. A stark difference from the bustling metropolis of Castelia city. Where he would have been bombarded with the sound of vehicles driving through the street, the constant murmur of pedestrians as they wandered the busy streets, and the focused, more tense atmosphere that a large city has flowing through it. Jeremiah took a deep breath, savouring the air. It was fresh, clean, in a way that even the air at his Holiday Home in Undella Town wasn't.
A soft smile crept over his face as he watched his pokemon play. Sitting under a tree, with a small cloth over the grass to keep his outfit clean, he felt very peaceful. While it was true that you had to push yourself to succeed at life, it was alright to take a break every now and then. Neccessary even, for how else would one centre themselves. Azure rolled along the ground, chasing Verdant around, the Snivy deigning to entertain the rotund ball. Above his head, Señor Claws slowly made his way up the tree, his eyes glinting nearly as much as the coin on its head. He had spied a nest of Taillows above, and curious about the new type of bird to hunt, had decided to investigate.
All was peaceful in the small town of Olda-
"Eggsy?!"
The Taillows, startled by this sudden cry, took flight, scattering into the air. Señor Claws leapt at the fleeing birds, a yowl of disappointment mingling with the birds cries as they took the sky, but missing completely and landing on the ground with a soft whump. Azure, distracted by the sudden activity, careened into the tree, bouncing off of it and rolling a few feet away. Verdant wandered back to Jeremiah, sitting cross legged beside him, in a pose mimicking the trainer.
"Eggsy... Where have I heard that before?" He wondered aloud to himself, his distraction causing him to miss Señor Claws crouched low on all fours, and slinking towards the noise.

The Orre-native was somewhat engrossed in her introductory reading (she in case you were wondering on the section on how to best throw a Pokeball at a wild Pokemon)... but not enough to not hear the squeaky chirp of a tiny white Pokemon that was trying to garner her and Smurf's attention.
Wait… That was a Togepi, wasn't it? Weren't those supposed to be like really freakin' rare? She actually wasn't terribly sure… Pokemon were somewhat of a luxury in Orre, though Johto-native Pokemon were some of the more common Pokemon imported into the desert-filled region. Togepi was Johtonian, right? Man, she wished she boned up on Uxiepedia more on this kinda stuff… that and actually have some empty Pokeballs on-hand.
Smurf on the other hand viewed Eggsy with a look of curiosity at the egg-like Pokemon… least before letting out a friendly "Smeear!" back at the baby Pokemon. Oh boy, the day has just started and already a new friend! The beagle cheerfully walked up to Eggsy and began painting some of the blue/red patterns that adorned his shell onto the ground in different colors… eagerly trying to convey if perhaps the Togepi wanted a makeover to their eggshell. After all, that white shell would make for a great canvas!
"Smurf, don't go painting on people without asking!" Roxy ended up exclaiming, getting up from her seat to scold the Smeargle just in-case they were going to. He was a good lad, but good grief he could get them into a lot of trouble if they weren't careful! She would have done more if she had not paused hearing the shrill voice of someone calling for someone. Eggsy? She looked at the little Togepi, two plus two clicking in her head as she realized that this wee thing was owned by someone already. Guess she wasn't the only one with a troublemaker of a Pokemon…
She began to scan her surroundings, trying to catch a glimpse of who was looking for the small chick… while Smurf entertained himself with Eggsy, their tongue sticking out a bit more than normal as they seemed to brainstorm on just the right look for his new friend!

tag notes holy shit there is a lot of wholesome activity going on here | Eggsy's presence was eagerly welcomed by the painter Pokémon, who started splattering little triangular designs into the ground as a creative way to ask for permission to redecorate his shell. "Togepi! Togepi! Toge-toge-prrriii!" the precocious baby chanted enthusiastically, skipping circles around Smurf in approval.
Between the fourth and fifth lap, Eggsy suddenly ran into Smurf's inky tail and passed right on through the wet fur as if it were a car wash, emerging from the bristles with a rather dense film of the slimy substance dripping all over his little body. The Togepi looked like someone had dipped him inside a can of iridescent paint.
He paused for a brief second and blinked, then burst into a joyous dance. "Togiiii!!" Evidently, Eggsy also believed in happy little accidents. So wholesome.
"Ah, there you are!" The exhausted panting of his Trainer, Felicity soon reached the baby Pokémon, who began parading himself around like a multicolored Easter egg with arms and legs. Understandably confused, the girl couldn't help but feel relief over the fact that he was safe and was willing to overlook such a mysterious detail. "You need a serious bath, mister spiky-pants!"
When she moved to scoop the little Pokémon up, Smurf fell into Felicity's line of vision. "Oh! Well, that explains your sweet new paint job!" she mused aloud, eagerly smiling back at nature's perfect artist before recognizing another presence sitting close by, one with headphones and a series of textbooks and notepads. "Is that your Smeargle? He's super cute!" Without skipping a beat, she used both hands to pick Eggsy up off the ground, unfazed by the wet fluids that permeated his shell. "I hope Eggsy didn't cause any problems for you! He likes to wander. Like, a lot."
"Gi-toh-prrrriiii!" Eggsy pitched in, as if agreeing with Felicity for the sake of being sassy.

tag notes He is a good boi and doesn't have his claws out. | He snuck through the grass, low to the ground. Considering he was bright white, and the grass was both green and short, he wasn't being particularly stealthy. He, of course, did not mind that. There was no challenge, no fun if it was too easy. His tail pointing towards the ground, ears twitching around, he followed the sounds in the distance.
The grass was nicely rubbing against his stomach as he got closer to the commotion. The voice, he had recognised, having met the trainer a while back, and his eyes narrowed in on the Togepi. This one was fun. Not too self important to play around, like Verdant was. And not always in the... water like Azure and Whiskers. A small shudder ran through his body at the thought. Why those simpletons would want to let themselves get gross and wet was beyond him. He readied himself to pounce, his butt twit-
WHAT. WAS. THAT.
His attention was instantly diverted by a certain fluffy tail waving in the air. His pupils expanded as the fluffy tipped apendage was waving around, the bright colours on the end of it drawing his attention even further. Eggsy could wait. He had a new toy now. His position shifted, the his focus completely on his new target. Leaning back down, head tracking the movement, he zeroed in, butt twitching to lock his location onto the Smeargles Tail.
With a joyous meow, he leapt through the air, determined to catch the tail.

Honestly, Roxy was a bit bewildered by the small Togepi's presence... though she least felt somewhat relieved the chick Pokemon seemed cheerfully ecstatic towards Smurf. Well, it was hard to believe there was any Pokemon Smurf wouldn't get along with.
At least their trainer popped back up... maybe a bit too late for Smurf to accidentally soak the baby Pokemon in paint. Smurf didn't seem too bothered his painting pal couldn't keep still... art came in many forms after all! Roxy on the otherhand resigned to realizing she was being thrust into an encounter with a fellow trainer, though they at least seemed friendly enough. "S-Sorry... Little scamp is a bit of a troublemaker, though I take you're not a stranger to that kinda behavior." she swiftly apologized for the sake of being polite...
Before she could however round up Smurf so they could properly introduce themselves, rustling flora was the only warning sign before a frisky feline had opted to leap from the brush. His target? The unaware Smurf's tail; the beagle FLIPPING the heck out and breaking into a panicked run... his tail unfortunately made even more enticing a toy due to his panicked sprinting.
Roxy's eyes widened into a look of shock at the Meowth's sudden appearance, she looking at Felicity in a bewildered manner. "Uhhhh, is this one yours too?!" she ended up asking, though eventually grew irritated enough by the ensuing mess to try and step in. Look, she was somewhat protective of her Smeargle... You don't just go and mess with them... Period! "Hey! Shoo! Shoo! He's not a cat toy!" she attempted to say, trying to get ahold of Smurf to pick him up and out of the Meowth's playful hands.
((OOC: Still probably not the worst kind of play Smurf has had to deal with, lol))

tag notes short post is short, rip | "S-Sorry... Little scamp is a bit of a troublemaker, though I take you're not a stranger to that kinda behavior." Felicity couldn't help but laugh exuberantly at the stranger's admission, knowing full well she was preaching to the proverbial choir. "He's been like that ever since he hatched a month ago!" Perhaps this little detail might yield some context behind Eggsy's rambunctious behavior?
Speaking of which, chaos suddenly erupted among the troupe when the Smeargle found itself a prime target for an all-too-familiar critter, one with creamy fur and a glittery gold amulet between its brows.
Understandably vexed by the turn of events, the girl in headphones asked Felicity if the mischievous Meowth was hers, to which the latter furiously shook her head and waved her hands left and right to place emphasis on her own surprise. "Don't look at me, all ten of mine are indoor kitties!" She admitted, feeling it necessary to explain the differences between her own Pokémon and the one chasing after Smurf's tail like it was a drippy chew toy.
While the Smeargle's Trainer moved from her studies to intercept the feline, Felicity couldn't help but notice something was rather familiar about the way it bounced and slunk around.
"Pii-pii-prrrri!" Eggsy cheered everyone on, provoking an even deeper sense of curiosity from his Trainer. Wait a minute, why was he acting so chipper? That only ever happened if he recognized somebody the both of them knew...
Hey! That must mean this Meowth is—
A mental light bulb clicked on, prompting Felicity to draw in a huge volume of air with a single breath, then shouted at the top of her lungs with the expectations of grabbing a particular individual's attention, one she was certain had to be roaming around Oldale Town: "HEEEEY!! I FOUND SEEÑOOOR CLAAAWS!!"
Flocks of Taillows scattered away from the canopies. She felt bad for the other girl, but after this little debacle, Felicity wanted to make amends for everybody.
Here's hoping her theory wasn't incorrect, though...

Ahhh, now he remembered. Eggsy was the name of Felicitys playful little Togepi. He had actually been meaning to go and visit her, as he had said he would, though after taking a small break. If she had lost Eggsy though, then it would only be right for him to assist in looking for the Togepi. He stood up, dusting off any stray bits of grass that had decided to stick to his legs. Packing up his gear, he called out to his Pokemon, intending to help search. However, after a quick headcount, he found himself very disconcerted to find that Senor Claws was missing. His hand slowly lifted to his face, pinching the bridge of his nose as he let out a beleaguered sigh. An act he only did as he was sure he was alone, as it would not have been proper to do so around people. He was about to call out to the rapscallion, when someone best him to the punch. A familiar, very loud voice informed him that the troublesome Meowth had already been found, so he made his way over to where he had heard Felicity.
Senor Claws was having the time of his life. Not only was the fluffy tail whipping around wildly, the Smeargle it was attached to was making it even more fun, running around so he could chase the tail more!! When the trainer tried to shoo him away, he took that as a cue to get serious. It was now or never. A glint in his eyes as he locked on to his target, about to land the finishing blow and get the tail between his paws. In his focus, he managed to miss Felicity lifting her hands to her mouth. Unleashing a roar worthy of any Pokemon, the sudden shock of noise startled him, causing him to jump straight up, an aggrieved yowl escaping from the shocked cat. His mood soured, playfulness dissipated, he walked around Felicitys feet a few times before curling up in front of her, one eye open and cocked up to look at her, demanding pats as recompense. Arriving upon the scene to find a trained holding an obviously startled Smeargle, a happily painted Eggsy having a great time, and Senor Claws at Felicitys feet, Jeremiah put 2 and 2 together to figure out what happened. He turned to the unknown trainee, inclining his head in apology. "I am not entirely sure what is going on, but it is my assumption Senor Claws has been causing... Issues. I deeply apologize." Turning his head to the more familiar face, his eyes quickly glance down to Eggsy and back to Felicity. "Greetings, Miss Felicity. It is good to see you again. And good to see you also recovered your own wayward companion."
